Clean and Green for seventeen

In 2017 City in Bloom will challenge entrants to be Clean and green for seventeen. We are asking residents, businesses, community groups, schools, institutions and churches to create a street-level or public realm planting that will raise awareness of air quality and Green our Grey Streets.

The Challenge is our contribution to the City's mission to reduce the high levels of air pollution on our streets. Research has shown that street level planting can have a positive effect on pollution levels - as well as enhancing our local environment through Greening Grey Britain.

The Clean and green for seventeen Challenge asks you to make a difference to your local street by designing and installing a new or enhanced planting scheme.

City in Bloom

City in Bloom is the annual celebration of all the amazing green spaces in the Square Mile from hanging baskets to courtyard gardens, from green roofs to balcony planters, from hanging baskets to roof top kitchen gardens. It is organised by Friends of City Gardens on behalf of the City of London, City Gardens team. City in Bloom provides the lead for the RHS campaign, ‘Greening Grey Britain’ in the Square Mile and is the foundation of the City's success in the Royal Horticultural Society’s national competition, Britain in Bloom.
